The Research station at Opocno deals with problems of silviculture. The chief of the Research Station is Antonin JURASEK, (the deputy of chief is Frantisek SACH). There are four research departments and Forest nursery inspection an accredited laboratory within the Forest Research Station:

  • Section of forest nursery management and afforestation - Antonin Jurasek (chief), Jarmila Narovcova, Jan Leugner, Jan Bartos, Vera Gutlerova, Eva Rackova, Vera Tosovska, Josef Tosovsky
Team of specialists and technicians deals with research and assessment of planting stock quality and optimal ways of afforestation. Expert, consultation and control activities in the frame of forest nurseries and afforestation are ensured. (more details)
  • Section of forest tending - Marian Slodicak (chief), Jiri Novak, Tomas Petr, Alena Hvezdova, Jitka Mottlova, Jelena Slodicakova
The section of forest tending was formed in 1995. Investigation of thinnings is based on traditional methods and long-term experimental series together with contemporal requirements of forest practice. The experimental basis consisting mainly of experiments in spruce and pine stands is continually being completed by experiments in broad-leaved and mixed stands as well as in the stands of substitute tree species. Except of classic increment and production studies, attention is paid to health condition of experimental stands and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems. Ecological investigation on selected series is automatized using special stations NOEL. (more details)
  • Subsection of forest regeneration - Vratislav Balcar, Dusan Kacalek, Jiri Soucek, Dusan Bartos, Jarmila Mayova
Research workers of the subsection are solving problems connected with forest establishment, reforestation, conversion and ecological stabilization of forest ecosystems in various site and forest conditions. (more details)
  • Section of forestry amelioration - Frantisek Sach (chief), Vaclav Narovec, Vladimir Cernohous, Jitka Richterova, Ladislav Sorm
The section of forestry amelioration formed in 1987. Its subject fields issued from in the past solved projects and included: improving hydrological and soil conservation functions and amending forest soil productivity. During more than ten-year research and consultancy activities the present matter of silvicultural amelioration has formed. It includes solving of sustainability and improvement of forest soil productivity including nutrition management of forest plantations, solving forest soil conservation (erosion control), soil water regime management and multipurpose silviculture with regard to hydrological function. (more details)
  • Library - Jitka Souckova, Miroslava Valentova
The library provides library and information services for the research workers. (more details)
