Summary

The article summarizes informations from 1994 - 2000 years concerning of the consultation activities of terrain workers of the Forest Research Station Opocno and Forest Protection Department of Forestry and Game Management Research Institute Jíloviště-Strnady on the territory of the Orlické hory Mts. (Czech Republic). Results of specialists of the Institute of Forest Protection (Austrian Federal Forest Research Centre, Vienna, Austria) are also presented (two reports are quoted: Cech and Krehan 2000a, 2000b). In June-15-2000 the occurrence of Brunchorstia pinea (Karst.) Höhn. pycnids [asexual stage of the fungus Ascocalyx abietina (Lagerb.) Schläpfer-Bernhard] was found on twigs and stems of Norway spruce and Blue spruce in the Orlické hory Mts. This Scleroderris-canker disease was found by the botanist Prof. Dr. Hardy Pfanz (University of Essen, Germany) in young trees of both forest tree species (spruces 1 - 4 m high, 15 years old) in surroundings of the hill Malá Destna (1090 m above sea level). No symptoms of insect attacks from recent years were observed in damaged stands (Liska 1998, Soukup 1999). However, in any case Brunchorstia pinea is not and cannot be the primary or the main factor which deteriorates the health state of spruce stands in the Orlické hory Mts. in present time (Soukup and Peskova 2000a, 2000b; Jancarik 2000).
